The Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project (PAADEEP) is a statewide initiative that utilizes crash data to identify aggressive driving locations. Evidence-based aggressive driving enforcement activities, coordinated earned media, public awareness and training are conducted in selected jurisdictions and have greatly contributed to recent declines in fatalities on Pennsylvania roadways.
Over 200 municipal police departments conduct sustained, high-visibility enforcement throughout the year. Data analysis supports the identification of municipal police departments with the most aggressive driving and speeding crashes over a five year span. Public awareness and press events emphasize the impact of the enforcement efforts. The themes of the earned media campaign combine aggressive driving and speeding with other highway safety events occurring during the enforcement periods.
