The Northumberland County Regional Police Traffic Services (PTS) Project provides coordination and funding for municipal police enforcement in Berks, Carbon, Clinton, Columbia, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Schuylkill, Snyder, Susquehanna, Union, Wayne and Wyoming Counties. The PTS Project aims at addressing the largest contributing factors resulting in a traffic-related fatality. These factors include

impaired driving, seat belt usage, aggressive driving/speeding, and pedestrian safety. Specially trained law enforcement supervisors in each county plan, coordinate and supervise enforcement operations. A regional coordinator manages and supervises the overall program.

PennDOT provides funding to municipal police departments which are selected through crash data for traffic enforcement operations. Police departments are encouraged to participate in traffic safety enforcement campaigns that occur throughout the year.
